![]() ![]() The noise isn't really unrealistic, it is just the constant and repetitive nature of it that becomes extremely irritating and the worst thing is that once you have a constant noise it actually reduces your level of tolerance to the point any noise can have you totally on edge. Part of the noise laws are policed by the Police - like loud music, wild parties, hoons doing donuts in cars, but the other part like machinery is policed by the local Council. I'm not sure what the decibels are but they do take constant noise like a pump into account when the incessant nature of it becomes extremely irritating. Machinery like pool filters and air conditioners cannot be run after 10.30 at night or before 7am weekdays and 8am weekends and public holidays. Mouse - we do have pretty good noise pollution laws here, but unfortunately noise is rated by decibels. That makes it sound a bit sci-fi, but it isn't, it is really good. Naturally the setting is California and San Fran. Bobbi you might enjoy The Hammer of Eden, it is all about a vibrating machine used in construction to ensure the firmness of the ground but in the wrong hands it supposedly can cause an earthquake if it is used in just the right spot on a fault line. That is one of the reasons I love Ken Follett so much, none of his books are remotely alike. ![]() Needless to say I've never bothered with any of his books since. Next time I was at the library I checked out a couple more of his books and they were just all the same. I think the book I read was called Vital Signs and they were so alike, just variations on a theme. About a week later the movie Coma came on TV and I saw it was written by Robin Cook so I very excitedly watched it. Has anyone read any Robin Cook books? DD brought one home one time and it was fabulous, had me on the edge of my seat the whole time and trying to guess the end. Will probably take me the rest of my life at the rate I am going. I think a lot belong to dds and they have just left them here. I want to pare my books right down as part of my minimalist campaign but I want to reread them all before I toss any. If the humans upstairs won't listen to your concerns, order this and you'll be on equal terms. It works, I just don't know what I'm making the people upstairs listen to until I hear it. I forgot and had to message the shop to send me the english instructions by email. The remote is in Chinese so be sure to make a note on your order that you require the english remote control instructions. Total cost with Canadian duty was $156.CAD. The item is jammed directly beneath their floor. It makes a horrendous "clack-clack-clack" with "Hummm!-Hummm!-Hummm!" sound through the ceiling by way of an electronic item on top of telescopic poles. It swings the balance of power to the person going through the agony of living beneath a pounding ceiling. There have been a couple requests for this "Fight Back" item I ordered. ![]()
